Reopening CrushSpot

4.06.2018 8:10pm I can't believe how much has changed since the first time CrushSpot was opened. I was a lot younger back then. I wasn't even 21 yet. The iPhone hadn't come out. Apps weren't a thing. There was no Twitter. I didn't know what I was doing (side note: I still don't really know what I'm doing). I just had an idea, and finally had the drive to do something with it. And with the help of all the people who joined, this site took on a life of its own.

10 years ago I sold the site to another company that unfortunately didn't have the same kind of vision for this site as I did. Things took a down turn. Within a few years it was gone. Admittedly I was a bit disappointed about it. This was my brainchild, my baby. And even though I had sort of neglected it, I still had hoped it was left in good hands and would thrive without me.

I stopped programming for a while. Lost interest. One of the things that I realized a few years ago was building is really exciting, but maintaining is not. And that's what happened for me with CrushSpot. I stopped innovating. I stopped creating.

That's why when I made the decision to relaunch CrushSpot I didn't just pull out the old code and put it out into the world. The entire site's code was rewritten. I designed for today's internet, but I kept enough of what made it its own little thing back in 2005. I know I'm not the only one that hates when a site gets a redesign and strays from what made the site fun in the first place. I hope I haven't done that. I hope I've built you guys a platform that's fun to use and fun to meet other people on.

Catch you later! ✊🏽
